The Green Web Sydney project recently received funding of $100,000 from the Sydney
Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority, on behalf of the Natural Heritage Trust, for the
continuation of the project in 2004/2005. This funding will be used to develop an integrated
package of biodiversity initiatives for local government, including provenance workshops and
a model provenance document, a regional corridors framework and an educational brochure.
The funding will also be used to employ a part-time project officer over a 12-month period.
More details regarding this new round of funding will be available on this website as they
become available.
Between 2000-2003, the Green Web Sydney project was principally funded through the Bushcare
program of the Natural Heritage Trust. The project received funding from Bushcare of $311,000
and $214,200 in the 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 financial years respectively. This funding was
supplemented by funding from CANRI (Community Access to Natural Resources Information) for the
development of this website.
The funding received from Bushcare was used to establish a Devolved Grants Program,
whereby the funds were distributed to Sydney's local councils via an application process
to undertake environmental initiatives contained in the Green Web Sydney Action Plan.
The funds were also used to employ a Project Officer over a 2-year period and develop a
capacity building program for local government tailored towards biodiversity management.
