Action Plan
Action Plan cover The Green Web Sydney Action Plan was prepared in 1996 with the assistance of a grant from the [former] Australian Nature Conservation Agency. The Action Plan contains 3 main elements:
  • Recommendations: Included in the Action Plan are a set of recommendations outlining policies, planning strategies, development controls and management practices that will help conserve biodiversity in Sydney. There are 17 recommendations in total including the formation of policies for the protection of indigenous vegetation and habitat on private land and the development of landscape schemes for public open space which better accommodate the survival of native flora and fauna.
  • Maps: Accompanying the Action Plan is a set of six maps identifying remnant vegetation and suitable revegetation sites in the Sydney metropolitan region. The maps are also accompanied by a set of Profile Sheets providing more detailed information for each of the participating Local Government Areas (LGAs). Some of the information collected as part of these profile sheets is included in the Council Information section of this site.
  • Summary of Vegetation Communities: This section of the Action Plan briefly describes each of the indigenous plant communities occurring in the Sydney region and lists their key plants and associated soil landscapes. This information is a useful tool for identifying local plant communities and suitable indigenous plant species for revegetation work.
The 17 recommendations from the Action Plan are listed below, please refer to the Action Plan for further information regarding the individual recommendations.
